“Obesity-Free University” initiative in Mansoura National University

As part of its efforts to promote public health and reinforce the concept of a sustainable healthy university, and under the patronage of Professor Dr. Sherif Khater, President of the University, and the leadership of Professor Dr. Raefa Allam, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing,

Mansoura National University witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol within the framework of the “Obesity-Free University” initiative. The protocol was signed between the Faculty of Nursing and Circles Company. It aims to raise health awareness and prevent obesity and its associated diseases among different age groups of the university community, in line with the University’s vision and mission to provide high-quality educational and community services that contribute to improving public health.

The areas of cooperation include the development of joint practical training programs. Circles is a regional provider of Continuing Medical Education (AACME) services and a member of the World Obesity Federation (WOF). On the sidelines of the protocol signing, several laboratories were visited to inspect devices and equipment designated for various nutritional cases. In addition, a dedicated clinic for the initiative was prepared within the university campus to offer health consultations on specific days each week and to provide nutritional support and counseling for students and all university staff.

For her part, Professor Dr. Raefa Allam emphasized that the protocol represents a strategic step toward strengthening the University’s role in community service through the implementation of integrated preventive and therapeutic programs to reduce obesity and diabetes, thereby contributing to the creation of a healthy and sustainable university environment.
